We found Andy at Pagham about six years. White fur, button eyes, that soft Build-a-Bear fluff that never quite flattens no matter how long a bear has been sat in a box.

He needed something to wear. I went rummaging through the fabric bin and pulled out a scrap of Woody print left over from another project. One Toy Story shirt later, plus a pair of beige shorts and a little red neckerchief tied at his throat, and he looked every inch the cowboy.

All handmade, all cut to fit him. I never send a bear out in shop-bought clothes if I can help it.

Andy went home with his new family in Smallfield about four years. We hope he’s still keeping watch from a shelf somewhere, neckerchief straight.
