Ariel

We found Ariel at a Blackwater car boot sale about four years. A Build-A-Bear rabbit with golden fur, long floppy ears, and a neat embroidered nose.

She was soft and fluffy but looked a bit plain sitting there on the blanket. We could tell straight away she needed something special.

We named her Ariel. The long floppy ears somehow felt right for a little mermaid on dry land.

We ran her up a handmade dress with a teal top, a mermaid-print skirt, and a row of colourful buttons down the front. The floral headband was stitched up the same afternoon.

She went home to Horley about four years. Part of the world, at last.
